Mexican Wildlife

AGOUTI

Agoutis are rodents indigenous to the Mexico area that look like tailless rats or squirrels.

They grow to 16-25 inches long, 2-9 pounds, and are noticeable by their long hair in the hind quarters and their black stubbed tail.

GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE

These large, noisy birds are often considered pests because of their tendency to destroy crops.

Known as Zanate Mexicano in Spanish, these birds are heard before seen with their harsh rattles interspersed with whistling notes and other noises.

IGUANA

The word "iguana" is derived from the Spanish form of the original Taino name for the species, "Iwana."

Native to Central and South America, you'll find plenty of these cold-blooded creatures basking in the sun on a hot day.

SCARLET MACAW

If you're not daring enough to venture into the jungle, these beautiful red and yellow birds with white-patched faces are brought to you on the beach for a fun picture.

TOWEL ANIMALS

These elusive animals can only be found lounging in hotel rooms.

Experts believe they have something to do with the wonderful wait staff at the Resort.
